Mezzo-soprano Sanja Anastasia studied at the University of Music and performing Arts in Graz and Vienna, Austria. She is the prize winner of several international singing competitions such as “Jeunesse Musicales” in Belgrad, “Enrico Caruso” in Milano, “Vincenzo Bellini”, Caltanisetta, Italy, Schloß Rheinsberg, Germany. She received her master degrees in Vienna in 2005 and became freelance artist. She continued her study in with Prof.Dr.Theodore Coresi in Vienna and later with Mrs. Brenda Roberts in Mainz, Germany.
From 2011-2013 Sanja Anastasia was member of State Theater Mainz where she was sung LUCRETIA The Rape of Lucretia, ULRICA Un Ballo in Maschera, MESCALINA in Le Grand Macabre, KLYTÄMNESTRA in Elektra, ELECRTESS in The Prinz of Homburg (CD recording and live radio broadcast in Germany) and OLGA Eugen Onegin.
Notable past engagements have included ULRICA on Theater Basel, Theater Bern, Theater Magdeburg, Landes Theater Innsbruck.
In ARENA di VERONA Festival in Italy, Sanja Anastasia made big success singing from 2012.-2018. as AMNERIS in Aida, CARMEN in Carmen, ULRICA in In Ballo in Mascera, AZZUCENA in Il Trovatore, FENENA in Nabucco, FLORA in La Traviata, GERTRUDE in Romeo and Juliette.
JUDITH in Bluebard’s Castel (german version) and SORCERESS in Dido and Aeneas on Theater Bremerhaven, LARINA in Eugen Onegin on State Theater Saarbrücken as well as AMNERIS at Openair Festival Gars am Kamp, Austria and La Perla Festival, Pfäffikon, Switzerland, Theater Aachen, Opera Tbilisi, National Theater in Belgrade, CARMEN at Aspendos Openair Festival with State Theatre of Istambul a.o.
Her successful production of AIDA on Theater Coccia in Novara 2016 was broadcoasted on Classica TV Italia.
Other guest appearances were with Volksopera Vienna, Cape Town Opera, Brašov Opera, Košice Opera, National Theater Sarajevo, National Theater Maribor, Theater Aachen, Theater Erfurt, National Theater Belgrade, Badisches State Theater Karlsruhe, State Theater Bremen, State Theater Mainz, Theater Magdeburg, Lübeck, Würzburg, Landestheater Innsbruck, Theaters in Pisa, Livorno, Rovigo, Como, Novara, Theaters of Catalania (Sabadell, Lieda, Reus), with State Theater Prag in Salzburg.
Her Aida in Tbilisi, Georgia and in Theatru Astra in Gozo, Malta were both filmed and broadcasted on National TVs. Also her CARMEN on Mozart Festival in Pravec, Bulgaria was recorded and broadcasted on national Bulgarian TV. She sang successfuly at Sofia National Theater als Eboli in Don Carlo.
2018 Mrs. Anastasia added Azucena to her Verdi repertoire singing it successfully in Italy, Romania, Germany and Malta (also registrated live for Maltes TV).
Furthermore Mrs. Anastasia made her Japan debut as Amneris in Aida production of Opera Roma on tour with Tokyo Philharmony in Japan and she overwhelmed the audience at famous Greek Ancient Theater in Taormina as Carmen on Music Festival “OperaStars” in Sicily.
On the concert platform Sanja had worked with Belgrade Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmony, Brandenburg Philharmony, Moscow Philharmony, Cape Town Philharmony, Orchestra Fondazione Arena di Verona and Tokyo Philharmony.
With big success, Mrs. Anastasia sung Verdi’s Requiem with Symphony Orchestra of Theater Würzburg and on Theater Wielki in Lodz, Polen and with Symphonic Orchestra in Hof. She also gave several concerts with Verona Lirica at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona with Orchestra of Fondazione Arena di Verona, Italy. She performed with Frankfurter Symphonic Orchestra on Alte Oper Frankfurt and with Mainz Philharmonic orchestra she sung “Aleksandar Nevski” cantata, both with big success.
2019 Mrs. Anastasia performed Beethoven’s IX Symphony in Mainz with Mainz Simphonic Orchestra in Germany, Eboli in “Don Carlo” on National Theater in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Carmen in Italy.
February 2020 Mrs. Anastasia made successfuly debut at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari as Ulrica in Ballo in Maschera and she returned as a guest artist at State Theater in Mainz, Germany this time in the role of Madre in Luiggi Nono’s contemporary Oper “Al sole un gran carico d’amore”.
Mrs. Anastasia successfuly opened artistic saison 21/22 in her home country with first time ever organized openair production of G.Bizets opera CARMEN in Belgrade Waterfront (cooperation with National Theater of Belgrade).
With big success she sang Premiere of La Principessa in “Adriana Lecouvreur” production, La Madre in “Gran sole carico d’amore”, at State Theater Mainz sezon 2021.-22., then AMNERIS in FRANCO ZAFFIRELLI’S Aida productions in Sicily, Italy.
